A stump is a mower hazard, a trip hazard and a welcome mat for termites. Leave a hackberry or elm stump alone and it will send up suckers for years. Grinding solves all of that in an hour or two, without digging a crater in the yard.
We grind the stump and the major surface roots below grade, deep enough to lay sod or put in a flower bed. Grindings can go back into the hole to settle, or we haul them off and you fill with clean soil. It doesn't matter who took the tree down or how long ago.
Keller's sandy Cross Timbers ground and the heavier clay in parts of Southlake and Colleyville grind differently. We bring the right machine for the access you have, including narrow gates.

How It Works
- Check access and utilities. Gate width, slopes, and a utility locate before any grinding.
- Grind below grade. Stump and main surface roots taken down below the soil line.
- Your choice of finish. Grindings raked back in to settle, or hauled off for clean fill.
- Tidy up. Chips raked off the lawn, beds and hard surfaces cleaned.
Frequently Asked Questions
How deep do you grind?
Below grade, deep enough for sod or a flower bed. If you're planning to plant a new tree in the same spot, tell us and we'll go deeper and clear more roots.
Will the stump grow back?
Grinding kills most stumps. A few species like hackberry and elm can push root suckers for a season; mowing them down takes care of it.
Can you grind stumps another company left?
Yes. Old, new, ours or not.
What happens to the grindings?
Most people let us rake them back into the hole. If you want to plant right away, we can haul them off.
